Interview Summary
Former Kentucky governor and U.S. Senator Albert B. "Happy" Chandler discusses some miscellaneous parts of his life and political career with University of Kentucky professor Charles P. Roland. Chandler discusses his strong feelings of destiny which persisted throughout his life, his difficult childhood and his involvement with the church, and historical figures who inspired him as a child. He also discusses aspects of his political career, such as his favorite accomplishments of his time in the U.S. Senate, his role in the desegregation of Kentucky schools, and the Reorganization Act which defined his first gubernatorial term as governor.Interview Accession
