Interview Summary

Miller (Senate, 1958-1972; 36th district; Republican) recounts growing up during the Great Depression, his family's socio-economic status, and his views of the New Deal. He describes life during World War II, listening to the radio, rationing, and eventually joining the Navy. He details his experience heading the Kentucky Un-American Activities Committee during the sixties. He recounts campaigning for John Sherman Cooper, campaigning for his own seat, his early years in the legislature, his views on Vietnam, civil rights, Lyndon B. Johnson, and lobbyists. He gives his impressions of Georgia Powers, Marlow Cook and Wilson Wyatt. Part 2 of 2.
