Interview Summary

Juliet Sorensen served as a Peace Corps volunteer in a Maternal and Child Health program in Tinzouline, Morocco from 1995-1997. She discusses conducting lessons on varied health-related topics in women’s homes, teaching dental hygiene to elementary school children, participating in a girls' travel project, and helping get funding to build latrines in a local elementary school. She opines that women’s lives in rural Morocco were very separate from men and anything but equal when she lived there. She talks about cultural learning developing over time and concludes that the most important impact of her Peace Corps service was the personal connections she made.
