Interview Summary
Jim Host is the founder of Host Communications, a pioneering collegiate sports marketing and production services company. In this interview, he discusses how he became involved in politics and specifically his involvement with Louie Nunn's campaign for governor in 1967. He describes Nunn's personality and discusses Nunn's many accomplishments during his term as governor, including raising the state sales tax in order to fund mental health services, funding Kentucky Educational Television (KET), and funding the Kentucky State Parks system, among others. Host talks about later being asked to be a Republican candidate for governor himself, and his reasons for ultimately rejecting the offer.Interview Accession
