Interview Summary

Bruner discusses his work with PRIDE through his position at the Cumberland Valley Area Development District (ADD). He describes in detail the solid waste and wastewater issues throughout the region, how they've been combated by PRIDE programs, as well as how they originated and grew over time. He also discusses the change of attitude in the region to being more thoughtful about environmental issues and keeping the region clean. Bruner discusses in detail the formation of PRIDE and the early steps taken to clean up the region. He describes the early work of ADDs to map the region in regard to straight pipes, illegal dumps, and failing septic systems. This mapping was done in order to provide PRIDE and each county accurate data with which they could work to clean up the environment.
