Interview Summary
This interview with the "P.T. Barnum of Country Music," Carlton Haney, begins with a discussion about the various songs he has written over the years. He discusses his family, as well as his work with various musical artists including Mac Wiseman, Don Reno, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Jr., and many, many others. Haney talks about meeting Bill Monroe's daughter, Melissa Monroe, and how this chance meeting gave Bluegrass music its name. He talks about his work as a book agent and as a songwriter, and his development of various Bluegrass music festivals.
