Interview with Wendell Bruce Carver, August 19, 2021

Interview Summary

Bruce Carver graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1965 and enrolled in summer classes at Kentucky Wesleyan College before enrolling at Hopkinsville Community College in the fall where he was elected the first president of Student Government. He transferred to the University of Kentucky in the fall of 1966, transferred to the University of Hawaii for his junior year where he was president of the campus Young Republicans, and transferred back to U.K. for his senior year and graduated with a degree in History in 1969. While at U.K. he was involved in Student Government and the Young Republicans. After graduating in 1969 he was a residence hall manager while he worked toward earning a teaching certificate. He enlisted into the Air Force in 1970 before he could be drafted and spent a year in Vietnam. In this interview he discusses his experiences in Vietnam.
