Interview Summary
Governor Wetherby begins his interview recalling memories of him hunting and fishing as a means of relaxation and recreation. He mentions vacationing in Florida and, in passing, compares the Governor's means of transportation then and now. Governor Wetherby explains the state budget during the 1950's with him in office as Lieutenant Governor and Governor, the mid 1950's recession, and his thoughts on a sales tax. Wetherby then discusses the Korean War, McCarthyism and its effect in Kentucky. He speaks of his friend Alben Barkley and his gubernatorial seatmate Illinois Governor Adlai Stevenson.Interview Accession
