Interview Summary
In this interview, Dan Issel talks about his high school sports career and his recruitment by various colleges during his senior year. He talks about his decision to attend the University of Kentucky, his teammates on the basketball team, and describes memorable games throughout his career at UK including playing against Pete Maravich, breaking the all-time leading scorer record, and fouling out of his final game for UK. He describes his relationship with Coach Rupp and Rupp's personality. Issel talks about his decision to sign with the ABA instead of the NBA so that he could remain in Kentucky. He talks about the merger between the ABA and NBA and being sent to the Denver Nuggets.
