Interview Summary
Blowen begins the interview by summarizing his career before he became involved in the horse industry. Then, Blowen discusses his work with the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. The interviewee also describes the organization that he founded for retired racehorses called Old Friends Equine. The funding process for Old Friends Equine is examined. Then, the horses, facilities, and volunteers at Old Friends Equine are explored. Additionally, Blowen explains the consequences of overbreeding thoroughbreds. The long-term goals of Old Friends Equine are listed, and the most interesting and popular horses living on the retirement farm are examined. Blowen concludes the interview by explaining the types of programs the farm offers for students in alternative schools.Interview Accession
