Interview Summary

Asimiyu "Sim" Akinade Oyetunji was born in 1937 and educated through technical college (now the Polytechnic) in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He received a B.S. degree at the University of Maine in 1967; M.S. in 1969 and PhD in 1971 at Iowa state University in electrical engineering before returning to Nigeria in February 1972 to a career with Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), including two years in Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP). His seven children attended universities in the United States. After retiring from Shell after more than 30 years, he came to the United States permanently in 2011 and is now a citizen. He and his wife currently live in Lexington. He has been active in Rotary International Clubs since 1977 and is now a member of Rotary Club of Lexington.
