Interview Summary
This interview with North Middle School Title I Resource Teacher Shannon Ball begins with a discussion of her childhood on a farm outside of London (Ky.). She talks about what she did for recreation, as well as what her parents did for a living. She then talks about the start of her career, which was primarily working in fast food restaurants, and her subsequent education in teaching. Ball then switches to the topic of environmentalism, discussing where her family got their water and disposed of their trash. She talks about her time in AmeriCorps, where she was introduced to Eastern Kentucky Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) and describes various clean up efforts of which she was a part. She then talks about her involvement in PRIDE clubs as a teacher.Next, Ball briefly talks about the recycling program in her county, before ending the interview by talking about the effect that Eastern Kentucky Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) has had on her and her two young sons.
