Interview Summary

Ted Williams was a left-fielder and later a manager in Major League baseball. He was born in California, and his lineage included Welsh and Irish on his father's side, and Puerto Rican and French on his mother's side of the family. The Quaker Oats Company stopped sponsoring Williams in baseball when he had his military draft changed from Class 1-A to Class 3-A during WWII. Williams lead the American League six times in batting. In this interview, Williams discusses his meeting Jorge Pasquel in Cuba, player endorsements, his involvement in the Jimmy Fund, and his charitable work with children.
