Interview Summary

Maggie Keane, partner at Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, discusses her relationship with Judge McAnulty and shares her memories of the man. Keane met Judge McAnulty in her first year of law school in 1979 and remembers him as intelligent and witty. McAnulty had a passion for juvenile justice and shares that McAnulty enjoyed his work on the Court of Appeal because it afforded him the luxury of writing. Throughout the interview, McAnulty?s sense of humor is referred to as one of his many strengths.

Justice McAnulty is the only black judge in KY to have served at every level of the judicial system, including service on the Supreme Court of Kentucky before his death caused by complications from Brain Cancer. He served briefly as Secretary of Justice after being appointed by Governor John Y. Brown.
