Interview Summary
He discussed his early teaching career at Jefferson Community College (of which he is now president), and briefly outlined his presidencies at Southeast and Ashland community colleges; described his work with the UK Community College System, the implications of reform on the system, the machinations behind reform and UK?s opposition to it; his work with the KCTCS transition team and service with interim presidents James Ramsay and Jeff Hockaday; continued resistance to the new system during the first year of its existence; the first and second presidential searches; the hiring of Dr. Michael McCall as system president and his efforts to tamp down continued opposition to the new system; his initial meetings and impressions of McCall; the community-driven consolidations of technical and community colleges; his assumption of the presidency of the Jefferson Community College, the early challenges of his tenure, its eventual consolidation; and then offered an assessment of Dr. McCall both as a person and as system president.Interview Accession
