Interview Summary
In April of 1945, Chandler got a call from Cleveland stating that all baseball owners unanimously elected him as the new Commissioner of Baseball. He discusses his role in the desegregation of Major League Baseball, as well as some of the other issues he tackled as Commissioner. He discusses his return to politics in 1955 and defeating the Democratic Party establishment to become governor for the second time. He discusses various aspects of his campaign, including his opponents, campaign strategy, and issues he faced. He discusses issues he tackled as governor, including reorganization of the government and the desegregation of public schools.Interview Accession
