Interview Summary
Richard Ellis, a former TVA employee, begins the interview by explaining how he was hired at the TVA. Ellis' educational background is examined. Ellis lists the positions he held throughout his TVA career. Ellis details his work in technical reports writing, including important environmental issues the TVA faced. Ellis' work as an environmental engineer, including cleaning up a dump site is recalled. The restoration and creation of environmental wetlands for treating wastewater is explored. Environmental pollutants such as acid rain and PCB transformers in relation to Ellis' time spent as an environmental engineer are illustrated. TVA's contribution to the Green Revolution is briefly stated. Ellis articulates his work in hazardous waste in the private sector in South Korea. Additionally, Ellis and the interviewer reflect upon their work in TVA hazardous waste management. Processes of early pollution prevention methods are also described. Ellis' accomplishments and TVA's international reputation are touched upon. Ellis outlines the work of his company, AWM, which specializes in registration of clients to ISO standards. To conclude the interview, Ellis evaluates some of the biggest internal changes that occurred to the TVA during his time spent working there.Interview Accession
