Interview with Maurice Manning, November 22, 2014
Project: Kentucky Writers: Kentucky Writers On The Land Oral History Project
Interview Summary
In this follow-up to a 2010 interview with Manning, he discusses the ways in which the particular place he lives influences his poetry, as it did for Coleridge and Wordsworth, whose homeplaces he visited within the last few years. He talks about his childhood in terms of how he became aware of himself as a writer. He talks about his education from high school through Earlham College and the University of Kentucky. The conversation then returns to the subject of his Washington County farm and its role in his poems.Interview Accession
