Interview Summary
Julia Taylor interviews Barbara Strippelhoff about her life and her work in the visual arts community in Georgetown, Kentucky, especially with the renovation of the Old Scott County Jail and Old Jailer's House. Strippelhoff talks about her early life and coming to Georgetown in 1958 after being married and describes her education at Georgetown College and the University of Kentucky. In the 1970s, she got involved with the Scott County Arts Consortium, later becoming its Executive Director, whose major effort was the renovation of the Old Scott County Jail for the creation of the Scott County Arts and Cultural Center. Strippelhoff also talks about her family history and Carbide Products, Inc. - the business her father-in-law started in Georgetown.Interview Accession
