Interview Summary
Dr. Neil Plummer is a former head of the Department of Journalism at the University of Kentucky. In this interview he talks about being offered a job with the UK School of Journalism by Enoch Grehan. He discusses at length the school newspaper, the Kentucky Kernel. He talks about controversial articles and editorials that were run, and the outcome of those controversies. He talks about the presidents of the university that he served under, including Herman Donovan, Frank Dickey, and John Oswald, and compares their attitudes toward the student newspaper. He also talks about issues that arose between the school paper and the university board of trustees, as well as several governors of Kentucky over the years.Interview Accession
