Interview Summary

Lieutenant Commander Clara Margaret Fort served with the WAVES for over 20 years, including active duty during both World War II and the Korean War. She was a master-at-arms at the Norfolk Navy Yard, a welfare officer at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, and an education officer in Washington, D.C. Fort describes her duties and training, commenting on gender discrimination and the changing role of women in the military.
