Interview Summary
In this first of a two-part interview, Doug Castle, longtime mayor of Paris, Kentucky, discusses his tenure in local government, elaborating on his early life and childhood as a star football player for Paintsville High, his time in the Navy, and his career path before becoming mayor, which included leadership positions in the United States Junior Council. He also details the highs and lows of his term, including his struggles to build the Paris Pike and Paris By-Pass, his difficulties with city managers and his overall improvements to Paris during his twenty-nine year mayoral run.Interview Accession
