Interview Summary
In this interview with retired Pakistani General Wajahat Hussain, Hussain begins by discussing his time in the Punjab Boundary Force during the partition of India. He talks about the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan in the late 1940s, as well as the looting and kidnapping that occurred during the large-scale migration of people between the two countries. Hussain then talks in great detail about the abduction of women and girls from both Muslim and Hindu families, as well as the violence and confusion that occurred amongst refugees to Pakistan. He also talks about his own migration and that of his family. Finally, Hussain talks about why he was chosen to serve on the Punjab Boundary Force, as well as ethnic and geographic tension in the British Indian Army.Interview Accession
