Interview Summary
H. Foster Pettit was the mayor of Lexington, Kentucky during the 1970s. In this interview he discusses his childhood and education at the University School run by the University of Kentucky. He talks about his teachers and classmates, and tells stories about playing on the playground at the school. He talks about the atmosphere at the school, where there was little discipline because the school wanted to encourage creativity. He talks about the demographics of the school, which he says was fairly homogeneous. He discusses the differences between the University School and public school, and talks about why his parents may have sent him to the University School.Interview Accession
