Interview Summary

John Sapienza clerked for Justice Reed from 1938 to 1939. In his interview, he describes the daily tasks of Reed's clerks, which included writing briefs and reviewing and commenting on petitions of certiorari. Sapienza also recalls Reed's opinions of Justices Pierce Butler, George Sutherland, James McReynolds, and Charles Hughes.
