Interview Summary
Alpha Ratliff, a participant in the Pikeville Methodist Hospital strike, begins the interview by recalling the workplace conditions placed upon employees during the strike. Ratliff then describes what her life was like throughout the strike. Subsequently, Ratliff talks of her children and family life during the strike. The interviewee then summarizes her life, including her education, marriage, as well as her first job. Strike memories, strike strategies, and common criticisms of the strike are also explored. Ratliff considers her role in the strike and her observations of people crossing the picket line. Ratliff concludes the interview with a reflection of the influence of church leaders on the strike.Interview Accession
