Interview Summary
Scudder was the 1999 Bronislaw Malinowski award winner. He is now retired from the California Institute of Technology. He is best known for his research on the impact of dam construction. In this interview, Scudder and Cliggett discuss Scudder's childhood, his education, and the influence these early experiences had on his professional career in anthropology. Scudder provides insight into key influences in his life, such as Elizabeth Colson, and his work on resettlement and dams. Scudder describes the foundation of the Institute for Development Anthropology, how to have influence on policy decisions, how to work on interdisciplinary projects, and the nuances of working with the World Bank and other organizations.Interview Accession
