Interview Summary
Janice Bargo, a participant in the Brookside strike, begins the interview by talking of the beginning of her participation in the strike. Bargo's previous encounters with unions are also mentioned. Subsequently, Bargo explains what prompted her to quit the Brookside strike. The start of the picket line is then examined. The past prominence of unions in strikes is discussed, as well as Bargo's husband Roger. How the public reacted to female participation in the strike is also mentioned. The interviewee recalls what it was like to watch people cross the picket line, and talks of the more interesting rumors surrounding the strike. Additionally, Bargo talks of her small business in the fitness industry. Bargo's arrest due to strike-related activities and the role of women in the strike are then articulated. Updates on strike participants are provided. Union pensions and Bargo's family are also detailed.
