Interview Summary

Evelina Alibegovska is a host-country-national Peace Corps staff member in North Macedonia. She has worked for Peace Corps for 20 years and is the training manager. Alibegovska describes her job, the country of Macedonia, the impact of the COVID-19 virus on the country, and the series of graduated steps the post went through while dealing with the crisis and how the staff was coping with impacts of the virus on their personal lives while working overtime to ensure volunteers were safe. She talks about the concerns of the staff after volunteers left, how they’ve reached out to volunteers and especially to counterparts and other Macedonians to keep the work of the Peace Corps going. She expresses appreciation for the Peace Corps senior staff for their support and guidance, and the importance of Peace Corps in Macedonia.
