Interview with Oliver Hack, February 21, 2021
Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Oliver Hack served as a Maternal/Child Health Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo from 1997-1999. To meet the nation’s current critical needs, he shifted his efforts to develop and build a cadre of community health workers to carry out community-based HIV prevention education. A highlight of his service was teaming up with a counterpart to organize an HIV education event featuring the music and dance of 10 different ethnic groups in the region, with over 1,000 attending. Over 20 years later, Peace Corps’ legacy remains strong is his life. He married a fellow RPCV from Togo and his learnings from service deeply inform his work as a leader in a global community development nonprofit.Interview Accession
