Interview Summary

A. B. "Happy" Chandler, born in Corydon, Kentucky, was the second commissioner of Major League baseball, from 1945 to 1951. In 1982, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In this interview, he discusses some of the team owners whom he knew while commissioner, as well as topics such as his predecessor Judge Landis' commissionership, his (Chandler's) leaving the senate to accept his position as commissioner, and the financial state of the commissioner's office.
