Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project

Interview Summary

Vana Prewitt was a PCV in Liberia 1983-1986 in a Rural Radio Network project and in St. Lucia in 2016 to assist in developing knowledge management systems. She lived in Monrovia with a family and had malaria five times during her service. She worked on radio projects and taught classes and produced stories with the Ministries of Education, Health, and Agriculture. Her largest achievement was a polio, mumps, measles, and rubella vaccination project which featured radio dramas to increase vaccination uptake. In St. Lucia Vana lived in the village of Laborie and ultimately worked on a water desalination project and helped develop a patent for the work.
