Interview with John Jones, July 27, 2009
Project: Kentucky Garden Stories Oral History Project
Interview Summary
John Jones grew up on his parents' farm near Laurel, Mississippi. His family raised cotton, cattle, hogs, and sorghum cane. They gardened for their own subsistence, but also sold vegetables informally. Because his father died when Jones was young, his mother ran the farm and gardens while seeing her children through school. The themes of this interview include resourcefulness, hard work, self-improvement, and helping others.Interview Accession
