Interview Summary
Shiloh Gay talks about his family history, including his Irish heritage and the family members that settled in Virginia and on Big Bullskin Creek in Kentucky. He discusses the people he knew that fought in the Civil War, and how the war may have affected local politics. He talks about farming and working in the timber industry. He discusses the effects of World War I, World War II, and the Great Depression on the area. He talks about the beginnings of the Frontier Nursing Service, the clinic at Brutus, Kentucky, and how the community would be affected if the clinic closed.Interview Accession
