Interview Summary
In this interview, Susan Schmidt Horning speaks with audio engineer Dave Teig. Teig starts by recounting his childhood and background in radio, before moving on to his time at Bell Sound Studios. He then discusses the audio recording technology available at Bell Sound Studios and recalls the musicians and other audio engineers with whom he worked. Teig also explores a technical conversation about record pressing and plating.Finally, Teig recounts his move to Atlantic Records, as well as the cost of studio time and equipment in the 1960s and 1970s. The interview ends with Teig's description of founding the Society for Professional Audio Recording Services (SPARS).
