Interview Summary
Elizabeth Starrett (n?e Betty Regenstein) graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1927. In this interview she discusses why she chose to attend UK and gives her first impressions of the school. She talks about majoring in English and describes some of her professors and classes. She talks about university president McVey and his wife and the parties they would hold at their home. She describes Sarah Blanding, the Dean of Women, and tells a story about getting in trouble with the dean. She talks about joining a sorority and other campus organizations and discusses the types of social events the students attended, including dances and parades. She discusses the Kentucky Kernel student newspaper and students' interest in politics. Starrett discusses how her college experiences have affected her life and talks about how college students have changed over the years.Interview Accession
