Interview Summary
Paredes served the Society for Applied Anthropology as President from 1993-1995. Much of his career was with the National Park Service. In this interview, Paredes talks about how he became interested in anthropology and the influences that shaped his intellectual thinking when he was in graduate school. Paredes talks about the work he did for the Mental Health Institute studying patterns of depression among populations suffering from economic depression. He talks about his later research, which consisted of studying North American Indians from a specific tribe in Alabama, the Muscogee (or Creek). Paredes describes his work with the Society for Applied Anthropology. He talks about his role as president of the society.Interview Accession
