Interview Summary

Governor Wetherby speaks of the emphasis he placed during his administration on the development of Kentucky state parks, the development of several Kentucky State Parks under his administration, and his opinion of tourism as an important source of income for the commonwealth of Kentucky. He recalls the treatment of children during this time and his establishment of a Youth Authority which was to handle the cases of delinquent, neglected, or mentally impaired children and give them either proper care or proper punishment. He explains his process of deciding who was granted criminal pardons and who was not, and then shifts to speak about the holiday season and other social events in the Governor's Mansion during his time there. Wetherby discusses how he managed to keep his relationship with his family close during his time as governor, and speaks of the domestic help in the mansion during his stay there and lastly elaborates of the mansion itself.
