Interview Summary
In this interview, Bobbie(Gilliam) Gothard, a significant community leader in the Tri-City area of Benham, Cumberland and Lynch, Kentucky, chronicles her role as the only woman to serve on the Benham Credit Union Board of Directors. Bobbie highlights Benham’s financial history and the Credit Union’s sponsorship by International Harvester, which provided a path of financial support and interaction for the coal miners in this IH’s only captive coal mine. Bobbie currently serves as Executive Director of the Tri-Cities Heritage Development Corp, and on the Boards of the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce and the Robert E. Frazier Tri-City Area Charitable Foundation (having previously served as its Executive Director), and many other activities including as Secretary-Treasurer of the Kentucky Veterans Memorial and Walking Trail and as a vital member of the Hern-Benham Financial Exhibit planning committee.Interview Accession
