Interview Summary

Calvin Grayson's interview consisted of a broad history of the role of the Kentucky Department of Highways from the 1950's to the present. It covered the transition of the KDOH into a multimodal Department of Transportation structure. He described in detail his experiences in the planning of the Interstate Defense System of Highways; as well as the Appalachian Development Highway System and the beginnings of the Kentucky parkway system. His interview detailed the process leading to the need for a Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) as well as the transformation of KTC since that time.
