Interview Summary
Timothea Branham talks about growing up in Pike County, Kentucky and the difficulties of coming out around the same time that her father was arrested on sodomy charges. She talks about coming out to her family and their reactions and discusses her relationship with her father after his arrest.She discusses the stigma against gay men in rural areas, especially in male-dominated industries, and discusses the difference in the stigma against gay men and gay women. She talks about the consequences of that stigma. She talks about moving to Lexington and the gay culture she found there. She discusses how these ideas have changed over time.
