Interview Summary
Steve Perry talks about the craft center in McCreary County where he works and lives. Perry explains the history of the craft center, initially being run by 4-H and the being adopted and run by the community. Perry discusses the wide array of artisans and crafts that are sold at the craft center. He explains why all of the crafts sold at lower prices because they are priced with the community in mind and the artisans want community members to use their crafts. Perry also talks about his son who is also into crafts and started out building using the "primitive style" and switched to the "rustic style." Finally, Perry explains why McCreary County would be such a great tourist destination. Over 70% of the county is protected forest and it has the largest waterfalls in Kentucky, not to mention lots of natural arches.Interview Accession
