Interview Summary
Fatima Fari Rahman, a former professor of chemistry, begins the interview by summarizing her childhood in India, along with her education, marriage, and travels throughout her native land. Then, changes made to Aligarh Muslim University since Rahman went there in the 1940s are considered. Additionally, the interviewee's family background is analyzed, focusing upon her maternal relatives. Next, Rahman reiterates the differences in Aligarh Muslim University then and now. Following this, the interviewee lists the various places she has lived and traveled to, along with an exploration of the importance of religion in Rahman's life. The leaders of the freedom movement are described, as well as Rahman's experience as a student in Aligarh. The progress of women in India and Pakistan is noted, as well as a discussion of Pakistan as a nation and the problems it faces in general. Finally, the weather, and the personal life of the interviewer are examined.Interview Accession
