Interview Summary

Devore describes her personal history growing up in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, and the way in which she lived. She discusses water and solid waste services during her childhood, as well as how she and her friends would entertain themselves. Devore also describes her educational and work histories leading up to being PRIDE coordinator for Edmonton, Kentucky. Devore discusses the environmental cleanup efforts that Edmonton has worked on with PRIDE in detail, focusing on the cleanup of Pedigo Spring Park, which also has ties to her family history. She discusses the issues surrounding dumps on private property and the issues surrounding law enforcement with environmental issues. Devore describes the volunteer efforts for their spring cleanups and how they provide incentives for participants. She also discusses what she thinks the future efforts in Edmonton will be and whether she thinks PRIDE is making a lasting difference.
