Interview Summary
Dawahare (House 1974-1986, 91st district; Democrat) recalls childhood experiences in his father's store in a coalmining region of Letcher County, his educational background, the family business, and community involvement. He discusses the impact of growing up during the depression and witnessing its effects on rural coalmining communities had on his views of the role of the legislature and his efforts towards better schools, funding for medical students, and the coal tax.
