Interview with Ana Maria Roldan, March 16, 2019
Project: I Remember When: Times Gone But Not Forgotten Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Ana Maria Roldan has been living a life full of love, ambition, and hard work to get to where she is now in Philadelphia. From moving away from Puerto Rico when she was 13 years old to Boston, and then up and down the east coast of the United States, and then most recently settling in Philly, she has worked towards her own education and starting a family. After graduating high school in Massachusetts, she married, had 2 children, divorced, and then met her “partner in life,” with whom she lives with happily. Roldan faced challenges with family court, leaving her beloved scenery and family in Puerto Rico, starting school in a brand-new culture, the death of her grandparents who she was incredibly close to, and then trying to find a community in Philadelphia that she swears is just like Puerto Rico. She has worked to overcome all of her struggles so far in life and is excited to move to another part of Philadelphia in the near future.Interview Accession
