Interview Summary

In this second interview with Garry E. Boling he continues to discuss his participation in the Vietnam War after being drafted in 1966. He talks briefly about his basic training and AIT experiences, and describes his feelings about being sent to Vietnam. He talks about his first impressions and feelings upon arriving in Vietnam, and talks about his mission with Headquarters Company while there. He describes being part of the mortar track, their weapons and equipment, and what it was like to be in combat. He talks about their tactics, as well as some of the operations he participated in, including the Tet Offensive. He talks about being wounded twice, relations among soldiers, and the effects of the Vietnam War, both personally and worldwide.
