Interview Summary
Interview with Anna Shapley Quinn - Belfast, MEIn this interview Anna starts by talking about her childhood growing up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She talks about becoming interested in Agriculture and going to Hampshire college where she studied farming and creative writing. She made friends from Maine where she ended up meeting the father of her baby. Anna talks about being raised by doctors and how that influenced her growing up and in making choices about how to give birth when she and her partner Seth became pregnant. She decided to have a home birth attended by her mother-in-law, a local midwife, and talks about the family dynamics in giving birth and how she was supported through that experience and in early postpartum.
She describes the uncertainty of facing birth and parenting, not knowing how it will be.
