Interview with Muriel Crespi, October 12, 2002
Project: Society for Applied Anthropology Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Crespi discusses the difficulties of completing ethnographic research at the National Parks Service, as many regions only have one ethnographer and have to compete with other departments for project funding. She then talks about ethnographic work currently being done on the Sand Creek Massacre site in Colorado, currently acquiring land for the Park for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. Crespi talks about the daily duties of an ethnographer outside of doing research. Crespi discusses her own ethnographic project at the plantation site at Cane River Creole National Historical Park in Louisiana. She tells Fiske about the site and how she has brought the discussion of slavery to the Park.Interview Accession
