Interview Summary
Lydia Roberts Fischer was a professor at the University of Kentucky from 1942 to 1949. Fischer talks about how her father saved money to put both Lydia and her sister through college and how she got her master's degree. She got married and had two children. She and her husband got divorced, which forced her to get a full time job at UK. She taught in the ASTP program, teaching veterans. She discusses the effects of war on the veterans. She worked in the program for seven years, then went on to work at Lafayette High School. After working at Lafayette High School, Fischer retired from teaching and spent her time helping her daughters earn their college degrees.Interview Accession
